Public Health Ontario reported 864 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 668 recoveries and three deaths, all of which occurred in the last month.
The Sept. 16 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- Included in the new cases reported today are 533 unvaccinated people, 56 partially vaccinated people, 209 fully vaccinated people, and 66 cases where the vaccination status is unknown (missing health card data)
- 6,129 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 5,936 yesterday.
- 348 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- Included in the hospitalized patients who are not in the ICU are 146 unvaccinated people, nine partially vaccinated people, and 29 fully vaccinated people.
- There are 167 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 24 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 103 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 17 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- Included in the ICU cases are 115 unvaccinated people, 10 partially vaccinated people and 13 fully vaccinated people.
- 10,236,143 Ontarians (about 69 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 810,894 (six per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. Approximately 26 per cent of the population (including children) is unvaccinated.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 11 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, seven cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.6 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 34,365 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 2.4 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 162 are from Toronto, 122 are from Peel, 26 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 78 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 142 individuals under 12 years old, 69 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 384 people between 20 and 39 years old, 183 people between 40 and 59 years old, 73 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 12 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 577,253 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 561,492 recoveries and 9,632 deaths. Since the start of the pandemic, 29,510 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,743 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,917.8 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 34 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 2.3 per cent from the week beginning Aug. 31.

Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 30 new COVID cases.
There are 250 active cases in the region.
Thirteen people from Simcoe County are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 13,248 cases of COVID-19 with 12,742 of those cases recovered and 256 cases ending in death.
The region's weekly incidence rate is 32.9 cases per 100,000 for the week beginning Sept. 6, which is up by 5.1 per cent compared to the week beginning Aug. 31.
