Public Health Ontario has reported 296 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 24).
Today's update also includes 384 new recoveries and six deaths.
The deaths reported include three people between 40 and 59 years old, two people between 60 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old.
Since yesterday's report, there have been 31 new hospitalizations and seven patients admitted to intensive care units for COVID-related illness.
The June 24 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 2,938 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 3,032 yesterday.
- 284 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 295 yesterday.
- There are 300 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (51 of those people no longer test positive for COVID-19) and 189 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 190 with yesterday).
- The province reported 29,514 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.1 per cent positivity rate.
- There are 11,294 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.8 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today, 35 are from Toronto, 20 cases are from Peel, five are from Simcoe-Muskoka and 14 are from York Region.
- Today's cases include 70 individuals aged 19 and under, 105 people between 20 and 39 years old, 75 people between 40 and 59 years old, 34 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 13 people aged 80 and over.
Vaccines
- There were 225,188 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday, down from 227,318 doses administered on June 22.
- 13,321,816 doses of vaccine have been administered.
- In total, 3,542,439 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 543,315 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 531,278 recoveries and 9,099 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,655.1 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 15.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 29 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported nine new COVID-19 cases,
There are 110 active cases in the region.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,233 cases of COVID-19 with 11,453 of those cases recovered and 249 cases ending in death.
There are 14 people from Simcoe County hospitalized with COVID-19 related illness.
The weekly incidence rate in the region is 7.5 cases per 100,000 people from June 14 to June 20, which is down by 50 per cent compared to the week of June 8 to 14.
