4:30 p.m. update

Due to the extremely dry conditions and in support of the Open Fire Burning Ban issued this afternoon, we have decided to close the overflow parking at Innisfil Beach Park until conditions are safe again.

The overflow parking is located on the grass areas to the north of the park. We will be deploying additional Town resources including from Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services and South Simcple Police to help direct traffic.

We strongly advise residents to get there as soon as possible to get a spot at Innisfil Beach Park as once regular parking is filled we will be closing off the park to traffic. Additional parking will be available at Goodfellow Public School and residents are encouraged to take Innisfil Transit.

INNISFIL – Due to current dry conditions, Innisfil is under an open-air fire burning ban, effective immediately. This ban will remain in effect until significant rainfall has occurred in Innisfil or until deemed safe to lift.

During an open-air fire burning ban residents are asked to refrain from having an open flame of any kind, including fireworks. Anyone holding a Burn Permit may not have an open flame until the ban is lifted

“Take extra care with anything that might spark a flame, and turn into an accidental fire during the fire ban period,” said Innisfil’s Acting Fire Chief, Tom Raeburn. “Protecting our neighbourhoods from accidental, but devastating fires, starts with the fire ban, and continues with the help of each and every Innisfil resident and business.”

Public service announcements will be provided if the fire ban is extended or lifted.

The Town of Innisfil is asking residents for their cooperation and to not burn outdoors during this period. For further information on open air burning in Innisfil, please contact Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services at 705-456-2337.
