PAW Patrol Party just too dog-gone cute (4 photos)

The popular event had 34 participants with another 20 on a waiting list

For anyone who doesn’t know the PAW Patrol, the party at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library on Thursday might have seemed a little confusing.

Kids made dog tags, doggie crowns complete with ears, ate their snacks out of doggie bowls – and made their own pillow to take home, in the shape of a bone.

The doggie theme was no accident. PAW Patrol is the popular cartoon program in which a team of rescue dogs-in-training, led by a 10-year-old boy, teach kids about bravery, heroism, helping others and, especially, being kind to animals.

The party was organized by master-crafter Michelle DeGasperis, who runs many of the drop-in craft programs at the library, and it was full – with 34 kids attending, and another 20 on a waiting list.

Numbers had to be limited, said DeGasperis, because she could only make up so many of the Dog Bone Pillows – “all by hand!”

There were craft tables, manned by volunteers, a scavenger hunt, “and a treat at the end,” said DeGasperis. “It’s a party, right? There’s always treats at a party!”
