Any adult born in 1951 or earlier can now pre-register for a COVID-19 vaccine through the local health unit website.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announced this morning adults 70 and older, as well as all healthcare workers, are the next two groups to qualify for pre-registration.
This process is separate from the main Ontario vaccine appointment website. Those who qualify to pre-register must sign up via the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit website. Pre-registration adds a person to the provincial queue. They will later be emailed with a booking code to confirm an appointment with the province.
Pre-registration is still available for all Indigenous adults and their household members (aged 16 or older), as well as essential caregivers of residents in long-term care and retirement homes, adult recipients of chronic home care, and faith leaders with increased risk of exposure.
The new age group and expanded healthcare group is part of phase two of the Ontario COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
