Police looking for witnesses following head-on crash in Innisfil

Both vehicles were being driven by Innisfil men; three people remain in serious but stable condition, including eight-year-old girl

INNISFIL -- South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for witnesses to a two-vehicle, head-on collision in Innisfil that sent six people to hospital.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, police, Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service and County of Simcoe Paramedics responded to a two-vehicle collision on the 9th Line in Innisfil. 

The head-on collision involved a Volkswagen Jetta and a Ford 150 pickup truck.

A 50-year-old Innisfil man who was driving the pickup truck and his 16-year-old male passenger, also from Innisfil, were treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

A 23-year-old Innisfil man driving the Jetta and his 27-year-old female passenger from Barrie are both listed in serious but stable condition after being airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre.

Two girls in the Jetta, aged 2 and 8, were taken to a local hospital. The eight-year-old girl was subsequently transported by land ambulance to a Toronto hospital where she is in serious but stable condition. The two-year-old girl has been released.

The road was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.
