Prize-winning poet Merle Nudelman is the featured speaker for the Healing Art of Poetry in Bereaved Families of Ontario – York Region's speaker series Monday, April 29.

Nudelman, also an educator and lawyer, traces her emotional and spiritual journey after her son’s death from cancer in her fifth poetry book, The Seeker Ascends.

Her first book, Borrowed Light, won the 2004 Canadian Jewish Book Award for Poetry.

Nudelman also teaches creative writing and gives workshops on healing through writing.

The event takes place April 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre seminar room at 17250 Yonge St., Newmarket.

There is no cost for this event, however, donations are greatly appreciated.
