We asked the same five questions to all six of York-Simcoe’s provincial election candidates. This is what Libertarian Silviu Druma had to say.

What are the top three biggest issues facing York-Simcoe?

First issue I believe is traffic congestion. We really need the Highway 400-404 link.

Second issue, in my opinion, would be affordable housing.

Third issue is the Thane smelter (in Keswick), which was closed a long time ago but the pollutants are still finding their way into Lake Simcoe.

How will you help Bradford West Gwillimbury manage its growth?

I will try to reduce a lot of existing government regulations that are taking their toll on small- and medium-sized businesses. I will also try to attract more investment to the area.

Where do Ontarians experience the most red tape, and what needs to be done about it?

Red tape is everywhere. We experience more and more government intrusion in our daily lives. This has to stop. We have to look again at all existing regulations and reduce them as much as possible.

If elected, what would be your first priority?

If elected, my first priority would be the link between Highway 400 and Highway 404.

What do you want York-Simcoe residents to know about you?

I was born in an Eastern Bloc country. Therefore, my first and foremost priority is freedom. If you don't have freedom you have nothing. I can see a growing government interference in our daily lives. This has to stop. It is a very slippery slope, and by the time you realize it has gone too far, you are already too late.
