Matthews House Hospice invites the South Simcoe community to a Celebration of Hope on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at their new location, 131 Wellington Street East, Alliston.

Hope for the Holidays is a remembrance event designed to take a moment to remember loves ones during the holiday season.

This years’ event will be extra special as it takes place at the new Centre of Excellence location. Guests are invited to walk through the gardens viewing the paths lined with luminaries In Memory or In Honour of someone special.

The afternoon will begin with carolling in the gardens, hot chocolate and viewing of luminaries followed by the lighting of the large Christmas tree that will adorn the lobby.

Followed by fellowship and refreshments, it promises to be a lovely afternoon. Luminaries are encouraged to be purchased in advance by calling Matthews House Hospice or visiting the website and completing the order from prior to Nov. 30.

Matthews House Hospice is a home in the heart of South Simcoe that offers both residential-based care to people in the last stages of their lives, and community-based programs for people dealing with grief or a life-limiting illness.

It lets residents spend their final days together with loved ones in an environment that is peaceful, comfortable and meaningful. It is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers who provide compassionate, palliative care to meet residents’ every need and ensure that each moment counts.
