Rides, animals, music at Schomberg Fair this weekend

The fair kicks off May 24 with the midway opening at 5 p.m., and it closes May 27 with the Homecraft Awards at 4 p.m.

Whether sheep herding, live music, demolition derby, or the Ferris Wheel is your thing, the 168th annual Schomberg Agricultural Spring Fair has plenty to offer.

The fair at 319 Main St. in Schomberg kicks off May 24 at 5 p.m. with a midway featuring family-friendly rides and games. All the rides that day will cost $2.

Gates open for the second day May 25 at 4 p.m., with a mini horse demonstration at 5:30 p.m. and demolition derby at 7:30 p.m.

Jabberwock is the headlining act on the main stage at 10 p.m.

On May 26, gates open at 9 a.m., and the midway and community hall each open at 11 a.m.

The grand parade starts at 11 a.m., with the opening ceremony at noon.

This year’s fair theme is Country Roots and Cowboy Boots.

Several different events take place throughout the day, including sheep herding demos at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., DooDoo the Clown at 1 p.m., and Meet the Blue taking the main stage at 9 p.m.

The Lion’s pancake breakfast kicks off the final day of the fair May 27 at 8 a.m.

A 4-H dairy clip and fit is at 10:30 a.m., the midway opens at 11 a.m., and beef and dairy cattle shows take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

Baby show registration is at noon, with the show starting at 1 p.m.

A pet and mutt show is also at 1:30 p.m., and the fair closes down with the Homecraft Awards at 4 p.m.
