ROTARY CLUB OF INNISFIL

The Rotary Club of Innisfil is celebrating the creativity and talents of our local bakers and gingerbread house creators at our second annual Simcoe County Gingerbread House Contest on Nov. 26, with categories for all ages and baking experience levels.

This is the second year for the community event, which is hosted at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library in Alcona. This year’s edition will include a life-size gingerbread house created by Carol and Tim Hill, as well as an all-new bake sale and craft sale.

Prizes will be awarded for each category: kid bakers (ages six to 12), youth (ages 13 to 18), adult hobbyists, and group/team entries.

The winning gingerbread houses will be selected by a team of local judges: Beatriz Muller (winner, Food Network Holiday Gingerbread Showdown 2018), Teresa Araujo (owner, The Sugar Bowl in Bradford; winner, Big Bake 2021), Sydney Hardie (chair, Innisfil Arts Council), and Tim Norton (president, Rotary Club of Innisfil).

There are also sponsorship opportunities available ranging from $100 to $1,000 to support this family-friendly community event. All funds raised will go back to community projects in Innisfil and that support Innisfil residents.

President Tim Norton noted, “The Rotary Club of Innisfil is thrilled to bring back the Simcoe County Gingerbread House Contest after a two-year hiatus. This festive community event brings together creativity, talent, and fun for all ages. With the addition of a bake sale and a craft sale, we expect there will be something for everyone.”

To register as a baker, book a craft table, or become a sponsor, email Anne Kell at [email protected] by Nov. 12.

The Rotary Club of Innisfil has been helping the community since 2010 and currently has over 30 members. The Rotary Club of Innisfil meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. Are you interested in learning more about Rotary? Reach out to a member or email us at [email protected].
