The Jones Gang, made up of Wasaga Beach resident Jane Jones and her family, participated in the Walk for Alzheimer's last month.

The Alzheimer's Society of Simcoe County is thanking the participants of this year's Walk for Alzheimer's for helping to raise over $100,000 for the charity.

According to the local chapter, there were 314 participants, 48 teams and a record number of corporate and media sponsors for this year's event, which took place throughout the month of May.

This year the society was encouraging participants to walk 10,006 steps for the 10,006 people living with dementia in Simcoe County.

"Your walked with us and showed the people living with dementia in Simcoe County that they are not walking this journey alone," states a newsletter from the local chapter.

The fundraising goal for the walk this year was $75,000. The money raised through the walk goes toward support services, education, public awareness and social recreational programs.

The society is riding the fundraising wave into its next campaign: a catch the ace draw. The next draw is on June 17. You'll find more on the draw website here.

The Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County has been serving the region since 1985.
