Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is thrilled to announce that $28,300 was raised during the 2023 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign in support of the ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign.

This year, three Tim Hortons locations in Alliston (157 Young St., 3 Dunham Rd., and 4894 County Rd. 50) supported SMHF through their 2023 Smile Cookie campaign. Each location donated 100 per cent of sales from the delicious chocolate chip cookies, custom made with a sweet icing smile, that were assembled by Tim Hortons staff and volunteer members in the community. The weeklong national campaign, that went from May 1 to 7, supported over 600 other charities across Canada. This was the first year that the campaign was launched during the spring and since its inception in 1996, it has raised over $111 million.

“We are incredibly grateful to Tim Hortons and the community for their outstanding support during Smile Cookie week. Through this initiative, significant funds have been raised that will help us to continue providing the highest quality of care for our patients and supporting our dedicated staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital,” says Mary Thomas, CEO, SMHF. “This year’s success is a testament to the power of community and we’re so grateful to be the recipients.”

“We’re so proud and humbled that Tims guests have once again shown incredible support for our Smile Cookie campaign and important charities and community groups where they live, by helping us raise a record-breaking $19.7 million," says Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons. “To achieve such an amazing result means baking and hand-decorating millions upon millions of Smile Cookies over the course of just a week. My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who made this happen, including all of our passionate restaurant owners, team members and volunteers who helped us dot eyes and create smiles.”

The $43-million ‘Because of you, we can’ campaign is the largest campaign in SMHF’s history. Donations received help purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a new emergency department that will triple in size. With an emergency department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
