NEWMARKET - Southlake is pleased to share that we are offering patients and families 24/7 open visiting hours. Families, friends and caregivers have a valuable role when patients can benefit from having their loved ones by their side. That’s why we’ve changed our visiting hours. We welcome care providers to stay at the hospital with their loved one, based on their needs and wants, day or night.

“At Southlake, we’re committed to creating an environment where the best experiences happen and we have listened to patients and families in making this change. Having loved ones by their side when patients need them reduces stress for everyone and allows flexibility for individual schedules,” said Annette Jones, Vice President of Patient Experience and Chief Nursing Officer.

Visitors, who come to the hospital between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., are asked to check in with the patient’s healthcare team. During these hours, we ask our visitors to maintain HUSH practices, which encourages a quiet environment to reduce noise and promote a restful experience for all patients.

HUSH means:

·         Speak in lower or hushed tones, and dim lights where possible;

·         Turn cell phones to mute or vibrate, and use earphones to listen to/watch electronics;

·         In a multi-bed room, visitors may use the lounge or public areas off the unit if the patient is able.
