The Bond Head Women’s Institute draws its members from Bradford West Gwillimbury, New Tecumseth and Innisfil, but its topics of discussion come from around the world.

On Jan. 17, the women’s institute will welcome special guest speaker Sharon Jewett for her presentation, “A Picture Trek Through Uganda."

The retired teacher, principal, educational consultant and presenter will be sharing photos and information from her mission trips to Uganda, Africa.

Jewett travels with High Adventure Gospel Communication Ministries out of Newmarket – assisting with both educational and humanitarian projects.

“My part in travelling with them is to do training with teachers in instructional strategies for their classrooms,” she explained.

Jewett has also been involved in pastor training, and sharing hygiene information and “simple sewing techniques” with women in the local villages, she said.

She will be speaking at the Holland Court condominium, 200 Holland Court in Bradford, on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

The special presentation is part of the Reaching Ontario Sharing Education program, an initiative of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario, designed to share information and expand the skills not only of women's institute members, but of the community at large.

All are welcome to attend and share Jewett’s experiences in Uganda through a photographic adventure.
