Every September, Canadians all over the country take part in the annual Terry Fox Run as a way to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Over the past few years, due to COVID, the event has moved to a virtual platform, for registrants to run wherever they are, around the neighbourhood, backyard, down the street or around the block. Walk, Ride, Wheel, Run.
The annual Terry Fox Run has become a fall tradition in Canada, with more than 650 communities fundraising for cancer research.
This year's event takes place Sunday Sept. 19.
In Bradford, there are two teams currently registered to run this weekend: teameasye and Butterfly.
"Terry said, 'anything is possible if you try.' Inspired by his amazing example, our team is proudly taking part in this year's Terry Fox Run. Please consider supporting us in our try, and help us raise much-needed funds for cancer research," reads the note on the Butterfly team page.
This will be teameasye's eighth year taking part in the annual event.
"Last year we raised an amazing amount of over $2285 and this year we hope to beat that! Thank you to everyone who supports and continues to support Team Easy E... Let's make year 8 the best one yet! Help not only teameasye but help raise money for cancer research!" read the message on their fundraising page.
Both teams have raised a total of $1,520 so far.
It's not too late to register your own team or donate!
