Three new COVID cases reported today in Simcoe-Muskoka

Two of the new cases are in Barrie and the other is in Collingwood; Source of transmission in all three cases remains under investigation

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported three new COVID-19 cases and no deaths in today's update (July 21).

There are two new cases in Barrie. One is an individuals between 18 and 34 years and the other is an individual between the ages of 45-64.

The third case is located in Collingwood and is an individual between the ages of 35 and 44. 

The transmission source for all three cases remains under investigation.

There are currently 22 active cases in the region. 

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,339 cases of COVID-19 with 12,062 of those cases recovered and 255 cases ending in death.

There are four people from Simcoe County hospitalized with COVID-19-related illnesses, with no new hospitalizations since Tuesday.

The health unit has confirmed 4,974 variant cases in the region so far, with seven of those cases still active. 

Fifty per cent of the region's total population is fully vaccinated, and another 18 per cent has one dose of a COVID vaccine. The remaining 32 per cent is unvaccinated, which includes children under 12 who are ineligible for a vaccine at this time.

Anyone aged 12 years or older living in Simcoe-Muskoka region can book their first or second dose of vaccine online via Ontario vaccine booking system. More appointments are added regularly for clinics throughout the region.

The health unit does sometimes remove a case or move them based on further investigation of location data. The chart below reflects updated totals for each municipality as reported by the health unit on July 21).
