If you have ever wanted to see win at euchre, cheer on the Bradford Bulldogs, meet the Little Mermaid, visit a pig, and eat ribs all in one weekend, you can in Bradford West Gwillimbury and area.

SATURDAY, FEB. 16

Newmarket Winterfest

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Riverwalk Commons and Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.

Includes a pancake breakfast for $1 from 8-11 a.m., Snow Valley mini-tubing, Learn to Curl, drop-in sledge hockey, children’s games, outdoor public skating, rides on the Tim Hortons Express, and more.

Valentine’s Day Gift Show

Runs Saturday and Sunday

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Innisfil Lions Hall, 982 Innisfil Beach Rd.

Unique vendors and gifts. A show by the York Simcoe Events Group.

Family Day Weekend at Friday Harbour

10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Friday Harbour Resort, 311 Big Bay Point Rd, Innisfil

Gather your family and head down to Friday Harbour for plenty of exciting activities inside and out, including magic acts, ice sculpting, skating, snowshoeing, crafts, wagon rides and fireworks.

Model train show

Runs Saturday and Sunday

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bradford Greenhouse - Barrie, 4346 County Rd 90

The 49th annual model train show and sale. Largest show north of GTA. Many model railway displays and vendors.

Cost: Adults $7, students/seniors $5, children under six are free.

Euchre

12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Bradford legion, 115 Back St., Bradford

Free event for adults.

Come to the Bradford legion on the first, third and fifth Saturday each month for euchre.

BWG Local History Association meeting

2 p.m.

BWG Public Library, 425 Holland St. W.

Guest speaker Tracey Melidy will talk about the Wilson’s Hill Cemetery on County Rd. 27.

Bradford Bulldogs quarter finals

One game Saturday and two games Sunday

Saturday: 3:15 p.m., Novice A vs. Innisfil (Game 2)

Sunday: 11:30 a.m., Atom A vs. Barrie (Game 2)

Valentine’s Day Dance and Dinner

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner is served at 7:30 p.m.

The Portuguese Cultural Centre of Bradford, 767 Simcoe Rd.

Includes dinner of steak and shrimp, rice, potatoes, and dessert, plus dancing to the music of Santa Fe.

Tickets $30 for adults, $15 for kids of members, or $35 and $17 for non-members.

St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church’s famous ribs and perogies dinner

5-7 p.m.

At the church, 56 Hearn St. in Bond Head (county roads 27 and 88)

All welcome to the feast. Includes sauerkraut, Caesar salad, tea, coffee, dessert. 

Cost is $20 per plate (adults), $7 per plate (kids seven to 12), or free (kids under seven). Buy tickets at the door.

MONDAY, FEB. 18

Family Day at the Leisure Centre

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BWG Leisure Centre, 471 West Park Ave.

Free leisure skating from 9:40 a.m. to 11:20 a.m., sponsored by RBC

Other events at regular drop-in fees include lane swim, parent and tot swim (8:30-10:30 a.m.), leisure swim (10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30-3 p.m.), drop-in parent/toddler gym (9:15-11 a.m.), family sports (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.), open gym (8:15-8:45 a.m. and 1:15-3:45 p.m.).

Barrie Bouncefest

10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Barrie Sports Dome, 99 Hanmer St. E., Barrie

Cost: $10/child two years and older. Adults free.

This Family Day we will fill up the Barrie Sports Dome with inflatables and games. Kids can enjoy all the fun and help a worthy cause. ALL of the proceeds are being donated to Starlight Children's Foundation Canada.

Family Day at Kidergy

Open to the public 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special events:

  • Meet Ariel
    Starts 10:45 a.m., visit with Ariel at 11 a.m., and get pizza and juice box at noon
    Princess Room
    Play time before and after that.
    Cost is $18
  • Steve the magician
    1 p.m.
    No extra cost; attend with regular paid admission
    Both events include play pass that can be used as long as you want during business hours that day. No re-entry.

Family Day at animal sanctuary

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wishing Well Sanctuary, 2710 10th Line, Bradford

Cost is $20 per person, or $50 per family

We will have indoor and outdoor activities for the kids, crafts, tours and a cozy fire to warm up with.

We will also be selling delicious barbecue veggie burgers ($7) and hot drinks ($2). Cash would be best. Bring the whole family and friends and come enjoy a beautiful day.

Please remember to dress warmly, and we kindly ask that you leave your companion animals at home. 

Family Day in Newmarket

Newmarket’s Magna Centre, 800 Mulock Drive, hosts a day of family fun, including skating, adult shinny hockey, family pickleball, family basketball, and more.

Cost is $2 per person, per activity.

Family Day at Simcoe County Museum

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Simcoe County Museum, 1151 County Road 26, Minesing

Enjoy skating on the new skate trail, snowshoeing and sledding down the toboggan hill.

Bring your skates and helmets. Snowshoes can be rented, free of charge. Tour the gallery and historic displays.

Adults $8, youth and seniors $6, children $5, members and pre-schoolers free.

Family Day at the Knock Schoolhouse

1-4 p.m.

Historic Knock Schoolhouse, Sideroad 10 and Line 9 of Innisfil

The Innisfil Historical Society invites everyone to an afternoon of free old-fashioned games, from crokinole, to Snakes and Ladders.

Free events. Refreshments will be available.

Business Appreciation Day

4 p.m.

Bradford legion, 115 Back St., Bradford

Tony Garcia, of Poleiro BBQ, invites staff, local business owners and their families to an appreciation and networking event as a way for Poleiro to give back to the community.
