Baseball scores: Players use 'sister power' to throw out runners

BradfordToday, in partnership with the Bradford Minor Baseball Association, brings you a regular feature highlighting local baseball scores

All games took place the week of May 26 to June 1.

Softball

Under-8
Vin Bon started its season against Bradford Team 3. All 10 players made it on base. Vin Bon player Christian notably had a couple of run outs at third base, and the whole team maintained its focus and stayed strong right through to the end of the game, even in the rain!

Under-10
Vince’s Market won 11-7 against EGMSA 3. Josie made her debut with three hits, driving in a run each time. In the field, Anthony made several great plays including a great catch and a rundown of an EG player trying to take third base. Nathan pitched another great scoreless inning.

Kumi Canada lost a tough game to Holland Landing Firefighters, 15-7. Brianna and Talia were both prefect at the plate for Kumi, and Logan continued his strong hitting with another drive out to centre field. Great progress being made!

Under-20
Another tough 19-4 loss for Bradford against WSSA 2. Highlights included a home run from Reece B. Kaitlyn and Kassandra N. used sister power to throw out a pair of runners at third base.

Hardball

7-under
Bliss Pool and Spa won 9-0 against IMBA 5. Four players went three-for-three. Anthony with a single, double, triple and five RBIs. Cooper with two doubles and a single. Owynn, had two doubles a single, and three RBIs. And Brooklyn had three singles.

Later in the week, Bliss Pools and Spa faced Innisfil 3 and won 8-3. The game featured three RBIs from Ewan and a great pick from a throw by Anthony at first base. Owynn continues to get hit after hit going 3-4 and the crowd was going wild after Thomas got his very first hit as a under-seven player.

In a full team effort, Botas Electrical beat IMBA 3 15-7. Almost every player had multiple hits and every player tried their best and had fun.

Bradford Curling Club had another great game, winning 15-1 over Innisfil 1. The team was lead by great defence and the team's first home run. Noah H. with a tag-out at first base to end an inning, Cooper B. with a tag-out at second to end another inning. Carter S. had a big single for an RBI. Great base running by Jackson S. and Evan H. Aidan C. made it on base at each at bat. Logan L. added an RBI single in the first inning and Evan L. had his second-straight game with solid defence at pitcher and catcher.

9-under
The Rookie Select team played its first game of the season and collected its first win, 21-16 over Innisfil.
Over the weekend, the Rookie's went to its first tournament of the season and finished fourth overall out of 16 strong teams. Great fielding by Ty C. and Sandro G. The whole team went strong at bat and Hayden B. even got his first home run of the season!

Ryan’s Landscaping beat Innisfil 4 14-3. Sebastian smoked the ball and earned a triple with a two-run RBI. Benjamin R. had a great double play at short stop by catching a pop fly and then getting the runner out at second.

Carron Farms beat Innisfil #2 18-0. Great defensive plays by Chase, and Logan M., with a double play and beautiful catch. Great hitting by Cambryan, Harrison, Andrew, Ryer, Jake, Hayden and Alexander. Andrew had a bases loaded clearing double.

11-under

Bradford Sluggers squeaked by Many Hands, Doing Good in a 12-10 game. Tristan G. took the mound for his first time ever pitching for Many Hands Doing Good, he impressed his team by taking his time and throwing consistent strikes. On defence, Marshall R. showed off his fielding skills in the second inning as he guarded the line on third base, making two great catches and throws to first base. Noah C. helped out offensively with a great hit late in the game.
