Holy Trinity defeated in early-bird soccer tournament in Bradford (8 photos)

Another 'tune-up' tournament at the Bradford Sports Dome, this time for Junior Girls high-school soccer teams

Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford West Gwillimbury hosted another Early Bird tournament at the Bradford Sports Dome – this time, for Junior Girls Soccer, giving teams from five area high schools an opportunity to tune up their soccer skills before the start of their regular season.

Outdoor fields are still unplayable – and with up to 50 millimetres of rain predicted for the Easter long weekend, are likely to remain off-limits for some time to come.

Junior soccer teams from Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School in Aurora, St. Peter’s and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary Schools in Barrie, Jean Vanier Catholic High School in Collingwood, and Holy Trinity played a round-robin format.

Each team played four 35-minute single-period games, and the Top 2 teams met in a championship final.

It was St. Joan of Arc Knights versus the Holy Trinity Tigers in the final match – with the Knights playing back-to-back games but still coming up victorious, in a 2-1 win over Bradford.

Their coach summed up all the play, in the day-long tournament: “You guys played fantastic!”
