Jump Rope for Heart all about 'kids helping kids' (5 photos)

Kids jumped rope - and ran, hula-hooped, bounced and played - for the Heart and Stroke Foundation

Jump Rope for Heart is all about “kids helping kids," according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

For the past 37 years, Jump Rope for Heart has been a fundraiser and a way of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for students. Kids at schools across Canada skip – and run, play, jump and engage in other heart-healthy activities – to raise funds for Heart and Stroke’s life-saving research and programs.

W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford West Gwillimbury held its Jump Rope for Heart on June 11, involving every grade over the course of the day.

The primary students were the first to take part, with every tot paired with a Grade 7 or 8 student who helped them with the different challenges: jumping jacks, soccer balls to kick around, bouncy balls to sit on, obstacle courses to run, a skipping rope Limbo that was more challenging for the bigger kids, hula hoops, and skipping ropes.

W.H. Day wasn’t the only Bradford school participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year. Fieldcrest Elementary School and St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School also saw students participate and raise funds for the foundation.
