The last time Deanne Rose was at the Olympics in Brazil in 2016, she helped Team Canada win bronze by scoring the game-opening goal against Brazil.

At that time, she was the youngest female goal scorer in Olympic history at 17 and a half years old.

Now she is returning from Tokyo with a gold medal after helping her team win a historic victory over Sweden in the final championship game of the Olympics.

Team Canada won over the favoured team from Sweden after playing to a 1-1 tie in regulation time then going into a penalty kick situation.

In the final, Deanne scored the tying penalty goal during the shootout with a kick to the top right corner of the net.

Canada came out on top 3-2 in penalty kicks after the final shot ricocheted off the hand of the Sweden goalkeeper. It was the first time a Canadian soccer team has won gold at the Olympics.

Deanne has had a stellar career in the sport after starting out in minor soccer in Allison.

The Saint Thomas Aquinas graduate played club soccer in Scarborough to hone her skills and was nominated for the BMO Canadian Player of the Year in 2015.

The school is proud of one of their most famous students and a banner with her name and number hangs in the school gym.

Deanne joined the Florida Gators in 2017 – Division 1 team in the NCAA.

It was announced on July 28, 2021, that she has signed a two-year professional contract with the FA Women's Super League in England.

All of New Tecumseth is proud of Deanne's accomplishments on the world's sports stage and congratulate her for bringing home Olympic gold.
