A new U13 elite travelling baseball club is looking for players living in Simcoe County.

The Simcoe Sluggers is holding tryouts tomorrow and over the weekend, and is looking for players born in 2007 and 2008.

According to a press release issued by the club, the goal is to provide kids with "an opportunity to take their game to the next level in their own backyard."

The season will run from October to August and will include indoor conditioning, dryland skills training and a regular season with games and practices.

The head instructor for the club will be Brad Grieveson, the current Barrie Baycats pitching coach, who grew up in Creemore.

"When you look at his accomplishments, he went to both North Central Texas College and South Eastern Oklahoma State University on scholarships as a pitcher," states the press release from the club. "He’s won Rookie of the Year, NJCAA World Series Championships, R.H. Pitcher of the Year and held the third-lowest ERA in Lone Star Conference history."

Tryouts begin tomorrow (Sept. 18) at the Innisfil Recreation Complex. They run 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 20) and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 25.
