Novice A Bulldogs eliminated in OMHA quarter-finals

There are two Bradford Bulldogs teams left in OMHA series, playing Friday night and Saturday

The Bradford Bulldogs Novice A team fought hard in its OMHA quarter-final series against the Innisfil Winterhawks – but were eliminated in Game 4 on home ice on Feb. 21.

The Bulldogs, after losing the first two games in its quarter-final series, won Game 3 in Innisfil – but then went down to a 4-1 defeat on Thursday. The lone goal was by Jacob Hardill, scoring unassisted with less than a minute left in second period.

Hardill was the only Bulldog to solve the Innisfil goalie, as the Winterhawks foiled breakaway after breakaway.

“We never gave up and fought to the end,” said coach Joe Lotto. The team now drops to the York-Simcoe playoffs against Newmarket and Aurora in a round-robin quarter-final series.

The Bradford Atom A team is also struggling in its matchup with the Barrie Colts. Bradford won Game 1, with a 3-2 victory, but lost the next two games 2-1 and 5-2, respectively, to the Barrie squad. Game 4 takes place Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., at the BWG Leisure Centre – a must-win for the Atoms.

The Bradford Bulldogs Midget team is playing the Ajax Knights in its OMHA quarter-final series. The teams are tied, with a win apiece. Game 3 takes place Feb. 22 in Ajax, and Game 4 in Bradford on Feb. 23.
