Canada's Brittany Phelan edges teammate Serwa to win World Cup bronze

FELDBERG, Germany — Canada's Brittany Phelan edged teammate Kelsey Serwa off the podium to capture a bronze medal in a World Cup ski cross event Sunday, the second day of a double-header.

Sandra Naeslund of Sweden won the gold in a dramatic photo finish, while Andrea Limbacher of Austria was second. Teammates and friends Phelan, from Mont-Tremblant, Que., and Serwa, from Kelowna, B.C., battled it out for bronze, Phelan passing Serwa just before the finish line for her second podium finish of the season.

Phelan won a silver last month in Sweden.

Her bronze comes a day after Canada's Kevin Drury raced onto his first World Cup ski cross podium of the season, winning bronze.
