Canadian defender O'Vonte Mullings signs new deal with Red Bulls reserve team

HARRISON, N.J. — Canadian defender O'Vonte Mullings has signed an MLS Next Pro contract with New York Red Bulls II.

The 22-year-old from Toronto was taken in the first round (20th overall) of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by the Red Bulls. He spent last season with the Red Bulls reserve team in the USL Championship, starting all 31 matches while logging a team-leading 2,668 minutes.

"O'Vonte had a strong first season with us,” Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a statement. "We are excited to see what he will bring to the group in his second year as he continues to grow as a professional."

Mullins led the team with five assists and scored a goal, a 90th-minute match-winner against Atlanta United 2.

Mullings spent four seasons at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he logged 4,697 minutes, 28 goals and seven assists over 57 matches.
