15-year-old charged with assault, break and enter

INNISFIL - A 15-year-old youth is facing several charges after an officer was assaulted during an arrest in Innisfil.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at approximately 8:45 p.m., police were called to an address on Innisfil Beach Road near St. John's Road for a report that youth were in the area and some were stumbling onto the roadway. When an officer arrived, he located two males aged 15 and 20 who were visibly intoxicated. The officer drove them to the younger male's home so he could be turned over to his parents. 

While on scene, the residence was broken into and a woman inside was assaulted. When the officer tried to place the suspect under arrest, an altercation ensued. The suspect was eventually taken into custody and both males were transported to South Division. 

The 20-year-old man was charged with public intoxication. The 15-year-old youth was charged with break and enter and assault with intent to resist arrest. 

The investigation is ongoing.

The officer did not require medical treatment.
