Alleged sexual assault at Georgina ski park 'isolated incident,' town says

The Town of Georgina has issued a statement regarding the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old child at its ROC ski and toboggan park, saying it is a "troubling" but "isolated incident". 

The town, which reported the incident to York Regional Police when it occurred at about 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, stated it is fully cooperating with investigators.

According to police, a boy entered a public washroom at the ROC facility and was touched by an adult male. 

"The allegations are troubling, and once staff were alerted to the matter, police were notified. This is an isolated incident and the Town is in full cooperation with the police investigation. The safety of residents, visitors and staff remains a top priority," the town said in the statement. 

As the investigation is ongoing, further comment regarding the incident could not be made, the statement added.

Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with this case. 

He is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, with a thin build. He was wearing a black face mask and black hoodie, police said.
