INNISFIL - A 34-year-old Alliston man is charged with speeding in a Community Safety Zone following a traffic stop in Innisfil. On Tuesday, April 2, 2019 around 10:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Church Street.
The designated Community Safety Zone has a posted speed limit of 50 km/hr. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in an eastbound direction and obtained a speed measurement of 83 km/hr in the posted 50 km/h zone.
The man's licence had a Mandatory Ignition Interlock Requirement placed upon it as a result of his previous driving history. The vehicle he was operating did not possess an Ignition Interlock Device. As a result his vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
He was charged with speeding in a Community Safety Zone and Drive Motor Vehicle Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device. He was given a court date in May.
