Arrest made after vehicle window shattered by BB gun in Alliston

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Saturday, May 8, 2021, the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of damage to a vehicle window while it was parked at the rear of Alliston Mills Shopping Centre in Alliston.

The owner of the vehicle discovered the damage when returning to his car and called police. Upon arrival, officers observed that the rear window of the drivers side had been shattered by what appeared to be a BB pellet.

Further investigation with businesses in the area revealed a description of the suspect. On Thursday, May 13, 2021 at approximately 12:30 p.m., the accused. Robert Defoe, age 62, was arrested at his Paris Street residence in Alliston.

The accused has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
    •    Mischief, destroy or damage property
    •    Imitation firearm, use while committing offence
    •    Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

He will make a Court appearance on June 10, 2021, at the Criminal Court of Justice in Bradford, Ont.
