Arrest made in rash of LCBO theft incidents

South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged an Alliston man following a series of thefts at LCBO stores in Bradford and Innisfil.

On Thursday, May 6, 2021 at approximately 7:27 p.m., police were called to the LCBO on Holland Street West in Bradford regarding a theft of alcohol that just occurred.

The suspect had left the store but returned minutes later and was [allegedly] attempting another theft when police arrived and placed him under arrest. Police determined that the same suspect was involved in a number of previous shoplifting incidents at LCBO stores in Bradford and Innisfil.

As a result of the investigation, 50-year-old Rodney Claydon of Alliston was charged with seven counts of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and seven counts of breach of probation order.

The accused was released with a future court date.
