ATV crash sends one to hospital with serious injuries

An Innisfil man was charged with impaired operation causing bodily harm after a collision involving two off-road vehicles in Innisfil.

On Sunday, June 13, 2021 at approximately 6:50 p.m., an ATV collided with a side-by-side on a dirt trail in the area of Belle Aire Beach Road east of 20th Sideroad.

The collision caused the ATV to roll onto its side, throwing the male driver and a female passenger from the vehicle.

The passenger was transported to hospital with a serious, non life-threatening injuries. The driver had minor injuries.

The side-by-side driver was not hurt but the vehicle had extensive damage.

As a result of the investigation, the ATV driver, 31-year-old Joshua Messenger of Innisfil, was charged with impaired operation causing bodily harm, operation while impaired, and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
