Belle Ewart man faces serious, drug, firearm-related charges

Police find loaded handguns in plain view as well as drugs, cash and a small, illegal marijuana grow operation

On 17 May 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m. members of the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Community Mobilization and Engagement Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Uniform officers conducted a search warrant at a residence in Belle Ewart in the Town of Innisfil.

Officers were acting on information regarding a possible firearm at the residence.

During the search, two handguns; one of which was loaded, and a long gun also loaded were seized. Both handguns were located in plain view.

Numerous drugs and cash were also seized.

The resident had a small illegal marijuana grow operation which was dismantled by police.

A 23-year-old male from Belle Ewart was arrested without incident and charged with numerous firearms offences as well as CDSA offences.  

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and a Form 11.1 with many conditions he must abide by. The investigation is continuing and more information on the weapons, drugs and cash will be forthcoming at the beginning of the week, as the investigation is in it's early stages.
