Bradford man faces arson charge

A 36-year-old man is facing charges following an arson investigation in Bradford.

On Monday, July 6, 2020, around 1 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a house on 10 Sideroad where police located a room that had been damaged in a fire that was deliberately set.  

No one was injured.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with the investigation.

Police learned that residents at the home had been threatened and some of their property had been stolen and damaged.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, members of the South Simcoe Police Service executed a search warrant at the residence.

As a result of investigation, 36-year-old Gary Henessey of Bradford was charged with the following offences:  

  • Arson • Utter Threats (threecounts) 
  • Mischief Under $5000 (two counts) 
  • Theft Under $5000 (two counts) 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime 

He was released with a future court date.

The accused is known to the victims.
