A 33-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and speeding following a traffic stop in Bradford.

On Sunday, July 5, 2020, around 12:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on Line 5 in Bradford. The driver was arrested after a fail was registered on a roadside screening device. He was transported to South Division where breath test readings were above the legal limit.

Charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Driving 80-plus, Speeding and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card was 33-year-old Johnatan Basden of Bradford.  

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Research indicates that one in three speeding drivers involved in a fatal crash had been drinking. Make the right choices for community safety. Slow down and always drive sober.
