A section of County Rd. 88 in Bradford West Gwillimbury has been closed after a three-vehicle crash Friday evening, causing “extreme traffic build up" and sending two people to hospital, according to police.

The crash took place between two cars and a pickup truck shortly before 4:20 p.m., when police closed County Rd. 88 between 10 Sideroad and the Bradford Highway 400 exit.

Police have not yet released any information about what exactly happened or whether anyone was charged. A traffic reconstruction unit is on scene to investigate.

The two people sent to hospital have non-life-threatening injuries, according to South Simcoe police spokesperson Sue Sgambati.

As of 8 p.m., the road was still closed and was expected to remain that way for about another hour, she said.

“Extreme traffic build up in the area. Please find alternative routes,” tweeted South Simcoe police.

Police ask drivers to use Line 8 to get around the crash or avoid that area completely.
