INNISFIL - A 38-year-old Barrie woman is charged with impaired driving after a citizen called in to report an erratic driver.

Police received a call on Thursday, May 17, 2018 around 9:45 p.m. regarding a vehicle travelling northbound on Yonge St. in the area of 4th Line in Innisfil.

An officer pulled over the vehicle at Lockhart Road and detected an odour of alcohol. Coupled with the woman's appearance, the officer formed the grounds to believe she had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

A roadside test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The woman was placed under arrest and transported to North Division.

Further testing resulted in readings well over the legal limit and the woman was charged with over 80. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days. She was released on a Promise to Appear in Court at the end of May.

This incident is an excellent example of how we can work together to make a difference in our communities. South Simcoe Police Service would like to thank this citizen and all citizens who make the call and play a role in helping keep our roads and neighbourhoods safe. The use of 9-1-1 is an appropriate response if you suspect a driver is impaired.

On Thursday, May 17, 2018, South Simcoe Police Service responded to 98 calls for service.
