Woman, 40, killed in Holland Street crash

Police appeal for witnesses

South Simcoe police are asking for witnesses to a collision that claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman this evening.

Police say the incident occurred at 7:23 p.m. on Holland Street West.

As of 8:20 p.m., the eastbound lanes between West Park Avenue and Melbourne Drive were closed for a collision investigation, according to a tweet by South Simcoe police. 

No other official information has yet been released. 

Several residents at the scene posted about the crash on Facebook.

“A woman has been struck and killed by a car,” wrote Jessica Lynn on Facebook, adding she was on the side of the road when the incident happened. “She was struck once, the car took off and she was hit multiple times after that.”

At this time, police have not confirmed the details of what happened or whether anyone has been charged. 

“So horrifying..and horrible.. so tragic..I’m at a loss.. so sad and it will be on my mind for some time,” wrote Angie Marie Williams, adding she pulled over her car and ran to the scene to help. 

“Big accident at the intersection (near Tim Hortons and Canadian Tire),” wrote Cheryl LeBlond. “Roads are wet. Drive safely.”
