Domestic assault leads to charges for Bradford man

Man, aged 22, held under mental health act after self-harming, also faces spousal abuse charge

On Sunday, Sept. 21, 2020 around 5:10 p.m., South Simcoe Police officers responded to a report of a domestic related assault.  

The initial report was that a man and woman were arguing and the male punched the female. Before officers arrived Police received information that the male was outside the residence with a knife harming himself.

Officers arrived on scene, were able to de-escalate the situation and have the male drop the knife.  

The male was taken to hospital by paramedics to have his wounds attended too. 

The male was assessed and held under the mental health act. Police attended the hospital with the male, while other officers spoke with female victim of the assault.  

Police arrested and charged the male with domestic related assault. The 22-year-old Bradford male will appear in court at a later date.
