Driver accused of being impaired by drug following collision

A 37-year-old man was charged after police were called to a collision in Bradford involving a suspected impaired driver.

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020 around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road 88 and 5th Sideroad. The caller reported that one of the drivers involved might be impaired. Once on scene, one of the drivers was arrested for impaired operation and transported to South Division for testing by a drug recognition expert.

As a result, 37-year-old Austin May of Bradford was charged with impaired driving by drug. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. There were no injuries in the collision.

Thank you to the citizen who called us with suspicions about a possible impaired driver. South Simcoe Police Service officers continue to respond to calls for service and emergencies. Keeping a physical distance does not compromise our commitment to public safety.
