Driver charged with impaired after vehicle hits snowbank in Innisfil

Complaint regarding an erratic driver lead responding officers to the Innisfil Beach Road and Yonge Street area where the accused was arrested

A 23-year-old Innisfil man was charged with drug impaired driving and dangerous driving after police responded to a driving complaint in Innisfil.

On Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service was called regarding an erratic driver in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Yonge Street. The vehicle then struck a snowbank. The driver was arrested at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Nabel Ali of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired by drug and dangerous operation. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

One-hundred per cent of impaired driving incidents are preventable and not worth the risk. Impaired is impaired, regardless of whether it's by drug or alcohol. We are committed to keeping our roads safe and want to thank the citizens who call us to report suspected impaired drivers.
