Driver charged with impaired following vehicle ditch dive

INNISFIL - A 28-year-old Barrie man is charged with impaired driving after officers responded to single vehicle collision in Innisfil.

On Jan. 22, 2019 around 11 p.m., a citizen called South Simcoe Police Service to report a suspected impaired driver after a vehicle went into the ditch at the intersection of 7th Line and County Road 4. Police arrived on scene and located a man in the driver's seat. An odour of alcohol was detected and a demand was made for a roadside screening device test. After a fail was registered, the man was arrested and transported to the North Division. Further testing resulted in a charge of over 80. The man was also issued two Provincial Offences Notices for novice driver blood alcohol content above zero and having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

The man did not require medical treatment. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
