Driver faces three-day driving suspension after running red, say police

INNISFIL, ON - On Sunday, August 9, 2020, around 2 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light on 25th Sideroad in Innisfil.

Police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath.

A Caution was registered on a roadside screening device test. As a result of investigation, 40-year-old Shannon Dimonte of Innisfil was charged with a number of offences including Red Light – Fail to Stop, Novice Driver – BAC Above Zero, Fail to have Insurance Card and Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol. Her licence was suspended for three days.

From Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, to Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 270 calls for service.
