INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for the public's help in catching a thief who stole a unique tent from Jakestock, an annual music festival fundraiser BBQ in Gilford.

The green, one-of-a-kind, Moosehead tent was stolen on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 between 2 and 6 a.m. from the Gilford Community Hall located on Bells Lane.

The tent is worth more than $1,000 and we would like to see it returned to its rightful owner.

Jakestock, the longest running music festival in Gilford, has been held for 29 years and is always on Sunday of the Labour Day weekend. The event is a fundraiser for local charities including the Community Hall, Heart and Stroke Foundation and breast cancer research.

"It truly is a sad day for all when someone’s moral compass is so low that they steal from an event aimed to raise funds to improve the lives of others. Shame on them. Grow a conscience and return the tent," said Deputy Chief of Police Robin McElary-Downer.

Anyone with information that can help us locate the tent and whoever took it is asked to call us at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or report tips online.
