Report of erratic, slow driver leads to impaired charge in Innisfil

INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged a 68-year-old Innisfil man after a citizen called to report a suspected impaired driver.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019 around 3 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically and below the speed limit on Yonge Street in Innisfil. After police stopped the vehicle, the driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken into custody.

Subsequent testing resulted in readings well over the legal limit. As a result, a 68 year old Innisfil man was charged with over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

This call from a concerned citizen helped us apprehend an impaired driver and remove a dangerous situation from our roads.
