A 46-year-old Bradford man is charged with impaired driving and Over 80 following a single vehicle collision that occurred within earshot of police.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers were in the parking lot of South Division located on Melbourne St. in Bradford when they heard a loud noise that sounded like a vehicle collision.

When officers arrived at the intersection of Melbourne Dr. and Holland St. West., they saw a vehicle stopped just west of the intersection with its four-way signals on. Officers saw the vehicle had damage and when speaking with the driver, detected an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired care or control and transported to South Division for testing. As a result, he was also charged with Over 80.

He was released with a court date in October. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

South Simcoe Police Service is committed to the relentless pursuit of drivers who refuse to use other options. There's no excuse. There are many alternatives to showing this disregard for the safety of others.
