Impaired driving charge stems from traffic stop

A 61-year-old Bradford woman is charged with impaired driving after South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver.

On Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, around 7:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Holland Street West where officers observed a vehicle pulling into a parking lot. While conducting a traffic stop, an odour of alcohol was detected.

A roadside screening test was administered which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and alcohol seized from the vehicle. The woman was then transported to South Division.

Following further testing, the woman was charged with impaired driving, failure or refusal to comply with demand, driving while under suspension and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded. She was released with a future court date.
