INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged a 27-year-old Innisfil man with sexual assault.
Police began an investigation on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 after a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by a man she met over social media.
Police identified a suspect and as a result of investigation, a 27-year-old Innisfil man was charged with sexual assault. He was released with a future court date. The victim did not suffer physical injuries.
Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual contact. If you are a victim, call police and report the incident. We will conduct a thorough investigation and provide assistance and support with our community partners. We would like to remind residents to always use caution when meeting anyone you've met through social media channels. When arranging a date, users should consider bringing a friend, or planning a group event to ensure their own safety.
