Innisfil man, denied alcohol at grocery store, nabbed for impaired

No one was injured after the suspect tried to flee police and struck the police cruiser

INNISFIL – On Monday, June 29, 2020, around 7:45 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called regarding an impaired driver in Innisfil.

The caller observed a man starting a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot on Jans Boulevard after being denied the sale of alcohol at the store. A responding officer pulled up behind the vehicle which then attempted to reverse out of the parking spot and struck the cruiser.

The driver was arrested and transported to South Division where breath tests resulted in readings well over the legal limit. No one was injured in the collision.

Charged with Impaired Operation, 80 and Above and Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available was 46-year-old Serhiy Nosonov of Innisfil. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
