INNISFIL - A 37-year-old Innisfil man is charged with speeding and stunt driving after a vehicle was clocked at 149 km/h in a 80 km/h zone in Innisfil.

On Monday, July 30, 2018 around 3:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducting speed enforcement observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on County Road 89 near 10 Sideroad.

Radar readings put the vehicle well over the posted speed limit of 80 km/h. The officer was able to observe the licence plate of the vehicle when it stopped to turn left onto County Road 4.

Despite the officer's efforts to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle continued to accelerate. Police wound up going to the driver's home where the charges were laid.

The vehicle was seized by police for travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The man's licence was suspended for seven days.
